On Friday, April 25, the Macon County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man for attempting to sell drugs within 1,ooo feet of Fairlane Elementary School.
According to the arrest affidavits, Tyler West arranged the sale of .05 grams of cocaine to undercover agents of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office. Agents made contact with West at 300 Fairlane Drive in Lafayette, which is located less than 1,000 feet from Fairlane Elementary School.
Upon confronting the subject, undercover agents found West to have a Marlboro menthol pack in his possession which contained a plastic wrapper containing a white powder believed to be cocaine. Also, West had a small amount of a brown leafy substance in a cigarette pack wrapper believed to be marijuana which was located in the car he was sitting in. West was detained and transported to the Macon County Jail.
Tyler Lee West, 22, of 5561 New Harmony Road, Hartsville, was arrested on 4/26 by D. Crawford and charged with drug free school zone violation, simple possession, and possession of SCH.II. His court date is set for May 7, and he was assigned a $40,000 bond.
The subject was also on probation for other charges leading to an additional charge of violation of probation. West is currently in the Macon County Jail.
