Remembering those who lost their lives in the 2008 tornado

The 6th anniversary of the tornado that wrecked Macon County will be observed on Wednesday, February 5. Representatives of county government and emergency response gathered around the memorial this week to pay respect to the 18 people who lost their lives as a direct result of the storm.


This memorial stone was installed on the square last year. It is dedicated “to the memory of the citizens of Macon County who lost their lives as a result of the tornado of February 5, 2008.”
