The Macon County Education Foundation, Inc. (MCEF) awarded $14,000.00 to fund 13 projects in Macon County schools and daycares. The awards were presented to recipients at a reception on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Macon County Welcome Center. Including this year's awards, MCEF has awarded more than $136,000.00 in Mini-Grants since the program began in 1997.

The fall 2013 mini-grant cycle funded the following projects in Macon County schools and daycares:

C.C.C. Cooperation, Collaboration, and Connections through Technology
Technology for the Core
Centered on Math
Math in Everyday Play
Growing Minds through Science

The Mini-Grant Program is a competitive grant program that uses a Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

Teachers in preschool (head start, child care facilities), K-12 grades, vocational and technology programs, and groups supporting projects for the school system in Macon County are eligible to submit project proposals.

The Mini-Grant Program Project Application and Guidelines may be reviewed and downloaded from the www.maconcountytennessee.com website. The MCEF Mini-Grant Committee members are Carolyn Whitaker, Katherine Raum, Nancy White, Renee Austin, and Pete Williston.

Macon County Education Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a mission to enhance the growth and development of the citizens of Macon County by expanding educational opportunities. The Foundation depends on funding received from contributions to support its programs. The Mini-Grant Program is one of four programs of the Foundation. Other programs include the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Scholarships, and Tornado Relief funds for child care providers. The Foundation also sponsors the TN Scholars Program for rising 9th grade students.
