Deputy Jacob Law with the Macon County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to investigate a reckless driver on Scottsville Road on Monday, September 23. Dispatch advised Law that the driver had hit a concrete barrier at Piggly Wiggly as well as running four people off the roadway. They advised that the driver had just passed the drive-in.
Law was close to the area where the described vehicle had wrecked in a ditch. A citizen stated that the driver was running on foot. Law ran the subject down and placed him under arrest.
“The subject, Ignacio Ramon, 31, of Jonestown Road, had open containers all in his vehicle,” stated Law, “I could smell what appeared to be alcohol; subject stated that he had ten of so beers. I had Deputy Tim Freeman transport him while I worked the wreck.” Law discovered that Ramon had a prior DUI and a revoked license when he ran him through dispatch. Freeman took Ignacio to the Sheriff’s Department where he gave consent to blow in the intoximeter.
Ramon was arrested on September 25 and charged with violation of open container, driver to exercise due care, evading arrest, driving under the influence, driving on revoked/suspended license and reckless endangerment.
