Macon County’s 2013 Fairest of the Fair is headed to Nashville this weekend to be pitted against all the fair beauties of Tennessee. McKenzie Sullivan, who was also Macon County High School’s 2013 Valedictorian, will be competing with over 50 other county winners at the 2014 meeting of the Tennessee Association of Fairs.
McKenzie is the daughter of Chris and Angie Sullivan of Lafayette. She is currently a Freshman at Tennessee Tech University, majoring in Bio-chemistry. She plans to become a Pediatrician. She is in the Med Club at the college, which is made up of students planning to go into the medical field and which hears presentations from various members of the medical community.
During the Nashville convention, McKenzie will participate in a Most Photogenic contest, a contest that involves decorating shoes to represent the contestant’s county, and a pageant. She said that she and her mother are planning to use tobacco and tractor themes to decorate the shoes she will enter.
The pageant will be held on Friday, January 17 at 6 pm at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville. If anyone would like to go out and support the county, tickets can be purchased for $20 at the door. McKenzie’s contestant number is #30.
Macon County will also be participating in several other contests at the meeting. Look out for a report on how we did as a county in upcoming issues of the Macon County Times.
