A Greene County man is being treated for life-threatening injuries at a Springfield hospital today after a shooting Sunday afternoon in rural White Hall.
Greene County Sheriff’s Department authorities said they were called about 3 p.m. Sunday and found a 60-year-old man at his home unresponsive and unconscious. The man had a single gunshot wound to the chest area, according to authorities.
The man, who is not being identified by authorities, was taken to Thomas H. Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton and then flown to Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
A woman who lived at the residence was home at the time, according to a sheriff’s department report.
Illinois State Police is assisting the sheriff’s department in processing the scene and collecting evidence. No arrests have been made.
No other information is being released at this time, according to a statement from Sheriff Robert McMillen.
