For the second week in a row, Macon County High School found itself in a close football game.

In the end Friday night at Pat Parker Field, MCHS couldn't pull out a win despite a valiant late-game comeback attempt.

Final score: Friendship Christian 35, Macon County 27.

It was the home-opener for Macon County.

Trailing 35-19 with 14.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Macon County's Jacob Salyer caught a touchdown pass from Dallas Grace. The Tigers made the two-point conversion.

Macon County tried an on-side kick. For a brief second it appeared the Tigers had recovered, but they had not. Friendship Christian recovered and took possession to run out the clock.

Macon County is now 0-2 this season.

The Tigers lost a close game last week at Trousdale County.

More information on the game, including MCHS stats, will appear in the Sept. 2 print edition of the Macon County Times.
