Early registration underway for Makin' Macon Fit

Early registration for Makin’ Macon Fit ends Sept. 3. Participants will have the opportunity to register up through the day of the event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11 at Macon County Junior High School; however, those who pre-register will be guaranteed a T-Shirt. The annual fitness event, now in its seventeenth year, is run completely by volunteers and raises money to promote wellness in Macon County.

Registration forms can be picked up at any of our sponsors, Macon County General Hospital, or Macon County School System. Sponsors are: Citizens Bank, Nestle Waters, Benchmark Title Company, Cobb-Vantress, Quorum Health Resources, NCTC, Air Evac Lifeteam, Macon County Times, Macon Bank & Trust, Co., Knollwood Manor, The Palace Care and Rehab, Tri-County Electric, Macon County Coordinated School Health, Family Care Center, Farm Bureau, Gallagher, Macon County Chronicle, Championship. This year’s Makin’ Macon fit is hosted by the Lafayette Rotary-Interact Club, Macon County Health Council, and Macon County General Hospital.

Some other events to enjoy in the upcoming weeks:

Saturday, August 28: The Lafayette Lions Club 12th Annual Mud Race will be held at the Macon County Fairgrounds beginning at 6 p.m. Doors open at 3 p.m. Admission is $5. Information on entry fees can be found on page A9.

Saturday, Sept. 4: The Red Boiling Springs Lions Club Annual Duck Race will be held at 10 a.m. in the Palace Park. This is the largest annual fund raiser for the RBS Lions Club. This year’s festivities will also include a quilt show and an antique tractor show. Anyone who wishes to adopt a duck for the race can do so for $5 at Macon Bank in Red Boiling Springs or from any RBS Lions Club Member. (More information on page B3)

Saturday, Sept. 11: A Flea Market will be held at Central Elementary to raise money for the school. For information on vendor space see page B8.
