Lafayette man killed in single-vehicle crash in Trousdale County

Funeral services have been set for a Lafayette man killed early Sunday morning, Aug. 22, in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 10 in Trousdale County.

Derrick Wayne Meador, age 31, of Landrum Lane, died at Trousdale Medical Center in Hartsville as a result of his injuries sustained in the 2:20 a.m. crash.

Mr. Meador was a passenger in a 1999-model, two-door Plymouth driven by Clinton J. Mabry, 38, of Union Camp Road.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 10 and left the roadway in a curve about mile-marker 18, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The right front corner of the vehicle struck a tree.

Mabry was injured in the accident.

Citations and criminal charges are pending, according to THP.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Neil Ferguson.

Funeral services for Mr. Meador will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 26, from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Whittemore officiating. Interment will follow in the Haysville Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin Tuesday at 6 p.m. and continue until service time Thursday.

Mr. Meador is survived by a daughter, Emma Nicole Meador, of Jefferson City, Tenn.; father and mother, Bruce and Teresa Meador, of Lafayette; brothers, Danny and wife Felicia Meador, of Red Boiling Springs and Darrell Meador, of Lafayette; and grandparents, Erma Gladys Todd, of Lafayette, and Harold and wife Rachel Wix, of Celina.
