Christine Settie Armour, of Merritt Island, Florida, departed this life on Friday evening, August 6, 2010, at Kindred Hospital in Melbourne, Florida at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 11 days. Funeral services for Christine (Cherry) Armour were conducted on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Jerry Mercer officiating. Anthony Doss, Barry Doss, Jeff Doss, Thomas Torgersen, Peter Checklick, and Jesse Emery served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Christine Settie Armour was born in the Leonard Community of Clay County, Tennessee on Sunday, December 26, 1926, the last one to pass away of seven siblings born to the late Finis and Letha (Carnahan) Cherry. She was married to the love of her life, Cassie Clay Armour on June 29, 1946, who preceded her in death on February 28, 2003. In addition to her husband of 64 years and parents, a brother, Farris Cherry, five sisters, Docia Bean, Ocie Smith, Vera Adasiewicz, Estelle Harp, and Marie Cherry preceded her in death. Christine was a member of the Merritt Island Church of Christ in Florida. She had worked, in her earlier years, at Jewel T in Barrenton, Illinois and after moving to Florida, she sat with the elderly. She was a Homemaker and loved her family dearly. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Peter Checklick, granddaughter, Cassi Checklick, all of Merritt Island, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
