Special agents of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation charged a Smith County man with burglary and assault on Tuesday, pertaining to an incident which occurred on Monday in Macon County.
On Monday, March 10, at the request of District Attorney Tommy Thompson, TBI began an investigation into an assault that occurred on Douglas Lane in Lafayette. TBI agents reported that a man identified as Andy Wayne Goad, age 33 of Pleasant Shade, TN, had a romantic relationship with his girlfriend for two years until December 2013. TBI stated that Goad believed the reason why they broke up was because of another man.
According to TBI reports Goad went to his ex-girlfriend’s house on Douglas Lane on Monday, March 10, and entered her home where he found another male and his ex-girlfriend. At that time, he assaulted both of them with a wooden club. Both the male and Goad’s ex-girlfriend suffered serious injuries.
On March 11, Goad was arrested and charged with especially aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. His bond was set for $25,000. He has a court date scheduled for March 19th.
