Names: Joey and Jamie Green
Together since: 2005
How did you meet?
Jamie explains: Joey’s cousin Heath knew us both and told me he was going to give my number to his cousin that we would be perfect for one another. So then Joey called me on a Tuesday and we talked on the phone for a few days then he asked me out on a date that Friday.
Our first date, Joey’s brother Jeffrey and his wife Carrie had went into the hospital to have their first born child and Joey asked me on the way to eat if we could stop by Sumner Regional. We spent our first date at Sumner Regional Medical Center in the Labor and Delivery Unit, which is where I now work.
I met the entire family and his sister-in-law Carrie who is know my best friend. Then we did end up going to O’Charley’s.
On our second date, we went with Johnny and Melissa Shockley, the plan was to go to a movie and out to eat, but Melissa was pregnant and wanted to go by and see the baby so we went back to the hospital, and the third date doesn’t get any better as far as romantic dates go.
Joey’s great grandmother passed away so we went to the funeral home and to church.
Between the hospital and funeral home, I met the entire family in one weekend.
We got married on June 17, 2006, and our son was born on Oct. 16, 2010.
Favorite Valentine’s Day Story:
Jamie recalls, “I was in nursing school and I was completely stressed out and Joey cannot cook a lick. I was in our bedroom studying, I had a big test coming up and he had come home and came into the bedroom and got me and said I got a surprise for you. And I was like what is it? I’m studying. He had went to Grecians and got us some food and had it on plates on the kitchen table and had candles and everything. It was just a little romantic dinner at home but it was the thought that counted.”
Relationship Advice: Put God first in your marriage. He is the God in the mountain and the God in the valley. When things are rough he’s going see you through it. We have had lots of rough times but we know marriage is forever and we’re meant to be together and God will get us through.
