Man charged with stabbing a man and cutting girlfriend

A Lafayette man was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated domestic assault, and reckless endangerment after allegedly stabbing a man and knifing his girlfriend in the face in the presence of two minor children.

Eric Matia Pancheco, age 24, of 702 Courthouse View B in Lafayette was arrested on December 23 by the Lafayette Police Department. The affidavit states that Pancheco stabbed a male victim in the stomach area in the Courthouse View residence. It also states that he used a knife to cut his girlfriend on the right side of the face, and threw a knife when the woman attempted to leave the residence. These incidents occurred with two minor children present, according the affidavit.

Pacheco’s court date was set for January 8, and his bond was set at $50,000.
