WESTMORELAND -- A Westmoreland man was arrested after he called for help from law enforcement.

James Carl Netherton, 54, faces an aggravated domestic assault charge after he allegedly placed his hands on a female that lives at the Oakdale Road residence with him.

According to the arrest report, Macon County Sheriff's Department deputy Jacob McClard was dispatched to the residence due to unwanted guests and possible drug activity.

Netherton greeted McClard on the front porch and said, "They are in there right now shooting up."

McClard asked to enter the residence, and Netherton asked McClard to wait while he secured the dogs that were inside the house. While McClard waited, he heard screams from inside the house, so McClard entered the residence.

In a hallway, McClard saw Netherton with his arm around the neck of a female -- who also lives at the residence along with Netherton -- as he attempted to pull her down the hallway. The female had marks around her neck and in the chest area as well.

Netherton's bond was set at $5,000, and his court date is slated for Nov. 7.
