At the Rotary Club of Lafayette meeting on Oct. 25, Shawn Carter, the supervisor of instruction for Macon County Schools, spoke to the club about the value of the pre-K programs offered by the school system in Macon County.

Carter feels that the program gives youngsters a head start and helps them acclimate to new experiences and being around other children. Three schools participate in the voluntary pre-K program.

Those schools are Fairlane Elementary School, Red Boiling Springs Elementary School and Westside Elementary School. For more information on applying to get a child in the program, contact Carter at 615.666.2125, ext. 105.
